Provided by AGPOn Monday morning, the Israeli navy reportedly seized several vessels belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla while they were in international waters in the Mediterranean, detaining activists on board.
In a statement, Adalah called for full disclosure of the detainees’ locations and detention conditions.
“According to available information so far, Israeli forces have taken control of several ships and led participants away, while details regarding their places of detention and health conditions remain limited at this stage," it stated.
The group said its legal team, along with volunteer lawyers, had already headed to the port of Ashdod to represent those detained following the interception.
Adalah also argued that the seizure of civilian vessels in international waters and the detention of participants amounted to serious violations of international law, saying the actions were connected to Israel’s blockade of Gaza and restrictions on humanitarian aid delivery.
