Arab League Denounces Restrictions on Muslim Access to Al-Aqsa Mosque

(MENAFN) The Arab League issued strong criticism on Sunday regarding Israel’s decision to prevent worshippers from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, asserting that Israel lacks the authority to impose measures that stop Muslims from praying at the site.

In an official statement, the regional organization described the closure as a clear breach of international law and warned that such actions could have serious consequences for both regional and global stability.

The group also urged the international community to apply pressure on Israel to stop what it described as unlawful practices at religious sites in Jerusalem and to uphold the principle of freedom of worship.

According to reports, the statement followed Israel’s decision to keep Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem closed since Feb. 28, coinciding with the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran. Reports also indicated that at the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank, only around 50 worshippers have been permitted to pray.
